Brightwood Photography » Santa Barbara + Los Angeles wedding photographer documenting adventurous love stories near mountains, lakes, and forests. This world is beautiful, so let's get out there and have an adventure.

The South Island showcases the jaw-dropping scenery that makes up the bulk of New Zealand’s reputation. Lush and majestic green hills crash into the golden coastline of Abel Tasman, down the rough and rugged West Coast where glaciers spawn near perfect streams and lakes near the Tasman Sea, through the carvings of Milford Sound and Queenstown, along the southern coast full of waterfalls in the Catlins, and up the east coast past the rolling hills of Dunedin. There were few beautiful views that came without challenging treks, but each step paid in full. The climb to Mueller Hut to see the towering wonder that is Mount Cook was brutally steep, but the view soothed every sore muscle. Weather was primarily perfect, except our journey along the mountain tops of Kepler Track were spent high in the clouds and rain. Along with challenging treks came emotional reunions. When I had last visited Christchurch in early 2010, the city center had been the height of the excitement. The earthquakes came shortly after and tore the city apart, however the recovery process is still underway. What I admired most about the city is the sense of camaraderie that could be felt amongst every local and business owner to rebuild this city in a way they never imagined.
