This is Seve.
He’s a great friend of mine and a very talented mixed-media artist based out of Austin, TX. This past weekend I had the chance to visit him with some friends but I decided to dedicate some of that time to documenting how Seve works and learn his thought process behind all of the amazing pieces he’s created. You see, Seve isn’t your typical artist. He has a very business-savy mind along with the creative side, which makes him extremely driven and helps to create his success. Learning how to create stencils via Youtube during our time in college, Seve created g52cube as a means to further his art and really make something out of it. Four years later and he has his own studio and continues creating new pieces daily. His new work includes diving deep into the issue of homelessness and reusing wood and materials collected from the streets of Austin as his canvas.
The work you’ll see below is one of his first tests of this new “canvas.” It was a great experience spending the afternoon out in the middle of nowhere and seeing this process from start to finish. To top off the day, we headed down to the pond and spent a few hours fishing from the dock.
If you ever have a chance to meet or talk with him, make sure you value every second of it. Seve is an extremely inspirational person and I’m lucky to call him my friend. You can find more of his work via Instagram (@g52cube) or his website.
